About Me

Thanks for checking out my blog!

I’ve never considered myself “athletic.”  I danced throughout high school and college, but come graduation in 2006, I didn’t have the time to keep up with a dance team, so fitness pretty much fell off the radar.

Fast forward to fall 2011, I started running (outdoors) and signed up for my first 5k– the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Houston on October 1, 2011.  The race itself was pretty embarrassing (WAY overdressed) and probably typical for a newb like me, but that didn’t stop me from continuing to run!  Many races later, I decided to invest in a road bike and train for a triathlon in June of 2012.  I wish I could say I was a natural, but I quickly developed a reputation for being accident-prone on the bike. Out of my first 3 bike rides, I fell twice and have scars and stitches to prove it!

Regardless, I managed to complete my first triathlon at Try Andy’s Triathlon in October 2012.  My right shoestring almost got tangled in the bike gears during my triathlon, and thus, the name of my blog!  I’m mostly just a runner now with 2 marathons under my belt, although my favorite distance is the half-marathon.

Enjoy!
